Our beloved husband, father, and grand-father returned to his Heavenly Father on March 14, 2018, from natural causes at the age of 75. Thomas (Tom) was born on April 23, 1942 in Portland, Oregon to Alfred Gower Hatch and Flora Alice Morse Hatch. Tom had two younger sisters, Janet May (Ron May) and Nancy Wolford (Dan Wolford), to whom he remained close with until his death. Tom married his eternal companion, Marsha Lyn Ek, on March 12, 1983, in the Jordan River Temple. They were blessed with 2 beautiful daughters, Maria Lyn Yockey (Marcus Rex Yockey) and Meisha Ann Egbert (Michael Todd Egbert), (who preceded him in death), and a son, Aaron Thomas Hatch, who died shortly after birth. Tom had 5 grandchildren McCade, Zander, Jaxton, Maya, and Logan. Tom worked as a copy editor and wire editor for the Desert News for 23 years. During the last 12 years of his employment, he was in charge of LDS General Authority Obituaries, a job in which he took great pride. Prior to the Deseret News, he worked at The Oregonian in Portland, Oregon as a Sports editor. Tom had a great love for sports and loved to stump others with his random sports trivia knowledge. Anyone who knew Tom knew about his great passion for family history. He put in countless hours to improve the data of numerous family groups and extended many family lines. Tom also had a great interest in transit and called himself a "streetcar enthusiast." By his own calculation, Tom was the first fare-paying passenger to ride TRAX in 1999 when revenue service began. Above all, Tom loved spending time with his family and would brag about his wife, daughters, and grandchildren every chance he got. He will be greatly missed.
