Thomas J Cannell

Thomas J. Cannell Grandpa Tom Tom Cannell passed away peacefully on May 12, 2012 from the effects of a brain injury/Parkinson s Disease. Tom was born January 3, 1935 to Ivan and Grace Cannell. After graduating from South High School he joined the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict. Tom worked for Kennecott, Kennametal, Titan Steel, Hill Air Force Base and Stonebridge Golf Course. He married RaLaine Trudy Phelps on October 1, 1960 and raised their two daughters, Robyn and Terri. He loved his girls and his grandchildren; they were always the light of his life. He was the most loving and wonderful man any family could ask for. We will all miss him tremendously. Tom is survived by his daughter, Robyn (Ray) Erkkila; grandchildren: Tracy (Scott) Cutler, Jeremy (Brittany) Erkkila, Brittany (Chris) Wainscott, Travis (Cherice) Erkkila, Staci (Mike) Jones, and Jamie Barnett (Kyle); 11 great grandchildren; siblings: Darlene (Norm), Jerry, Shirley (Val), Kathy (Dale), Mike (Carrie), Rick (Debbie), Merrill, Margaret Phelps and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Shorty & Grace; his wife Trudy; daughter Terri, and sister-in-law, DeAnne. The Family would like to express sincere gratitude to Scott, Doug, Mike, Erika and Ruth with Hospice for Utah for the loving care you gave to Tom. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 18, 2012, 11:30 a.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4100 South 4400 West. Viewing will be held Thursday, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and again Friday 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home prior to Interment.
