Todd Rupp

March 17, 1957 — August 19, 2024

Todd W Rupp passed away at the age of 67 on August 19, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on March 17, 1957, in Taylorsville, Utah, to Floyd Keith Rupp and Dixie Weight. Todd was the oldest of five boys. He grew up in Taylorsville with his brothers Randy, Scott, Jeff, and Brad. Todd was actively engaged in Scouts in his youth and received his Eagle Scout Award. Todd lived next door to his cousins and enjoyed sharing memories of growing up together. During high school he received a special honor his senior year to train in auto mechanics and was sent to train at the GM plant. He attended school at Cottonwood High School, graduating in 1975.

Todd enjoyed boating, water skiing, motorcycles, and auto mechanics. Todd worked various labor jobs which ultimately taught him skills he could use later in life. He was a true handyman. In his professional life, Todd pursued a career in accounting. He graduated from the University of Utah with a double major in finance and accounting, becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), then went on to earn his master's in business management (MBA). Todd dedicated the majority of his career to Utah Retirement Systems, where he served as Deputy Executive Director for many years. His work ethic, attention to detail, and leadership skills were seen in many aspects of his life. These traits were passed on to his children (some more involuntary than others) including mowing the lawn in straight lines, utilizing a good zip tie, checking the car oil and tires every week, never letting the gas go below a quarter of a tank, and erasing mathematical errors "effectively" without making a mark.

Todd served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Chicago, Illinois mission which included parts of Wisconsin from 1976-1978. Upon returning from his mission, Todd met and married the love of his life, Nancy June Bunt, on August 29, 1980. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple beginning a lifelong journey together. Todd and Nancy were blessed with three beautiful daughters; Kim, Krista and Kara. He was a devoted father and a doting grandfather to five grandchildren; Jackson, Zander, Kennedy, Taylor, and Linkin. And later welcomed two more grandchildren: Cash and Tripp.

Todd cherished his role as a grandfather so much that instead of retiring and buying his dream car, he and Nancy purchased a minivan so they would be able to chauffeur their grandchildren to their various activities. Todd actively participated in his grandchildren's lives, whether it was babysitting, cheering them on at games or recitals, and secretly loving but acting as though he tolerated all the extravagant family celebrations his girls insisted upon having. Most of all he simply loved spending quality time together.

Todd was a man of great love and dedication to his family. He was always there to offer support and guidance, whether to his children, grandchildren, or those who sought his advice. Known for his willingness to help others, Todd was someone people could turn to in times of need. He was not only a helper but also a teacher, encouraging others to learn and grow. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings over the years.

Preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Todd is survived by his beloved wife Nancy, their three daughters; Kim (Jayson), Krista (Ben), and Kara (Jake), his grandchildren; Jackson (12), Kennedy (7), Taylor (3), and Cash (15), Tripp (12), Zander (10), Linkin (18 months, who shares a birthday with his grandpa), his four brothers, and many other cherished family members and friends.

Todd's life was defined by love, service, and unwavering commitment to his family. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew him
