Trent McDougal

November 4, 1977 — November 25, 2023

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our one and only "Doogie" aka, Trent McDougal, 46. Trent passed away on November 25, 2023, in his home in Herriman.

Trent was born on November 4, 1977, as the baby of the three sons born to Stan and Tarena McDougal.

Trent was an adrenaline seeking child which left him with many bumps and bruises, however he managed to get through his teenage years to be able to graduate from Brighton High School in 1996. Trent played football with the Brighton Bengals until those bumps and bruises caught up to him and an injury took him out of the game, but the game would forever be embedded in his bones.

On June 13, 2003, Trent and Brandi married, and shortly after on April 5, 2005, they welcomed into life their handsome son Chandler McDougal who is and will forever be Trent's pride and joy.

Trent worked in construction and could fix or build just about anything with his hands. He had such a strong work ethic that everything had to be done to perfection, just ask any of his co-workers. Painting, framing, and finish-woodworking were among his many skills. When Trent went to work, he worked.

Trent's favorite places to be were on any dirt or rocky road that would put his Razor's workmanship to the test, camping somewhere desolate sitting in front of campfire, eating pho at a Thai restaurant, somewhere in the mountains hunting for the next wall trophy, yelling from his seats at Rice Eccles Stadium "GO UTES", or on the couch screaming at the Broncos to pull it together, all while clutching his coke in one hand and sunflower seeds in the other.

Trent had a knack for cooking and when I say "cooking" I mean smoking anything edible on the Traeger and/or grilling his perfectly cooked medium rare steak. Order your steak anything more done than medium rare...you knew where the door was!

Although Trent's life was tragically cut short, he will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched. He was a good man to his core.

Trent is survived by his father Stan (Kristine) McDougal, mother Tarena McDougal, ex-wife Brandi Craft, one and only son Chandler McDougal, ex-fiancé Veronica Hayes, brothers Troy (Vicki) McDougal, Shane (Jamie) McDougal, and nephew Skyler (Lyndsey) McDougal.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me:

"When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not here to see. If the sun should rise and find your eyes are filled with tears for me. I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today, while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you and each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand and said my place was ready in heaven far above and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through heaven's gate I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me from his great golden throne. He said this is eternity and all I promised you. Today your life on earth is past but here it starts anew. I promise no tomorrow for today will always last and since each day's the same way there's no longing for the past. So, when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart for every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart."
