Ursula Susanne Kundis DeHaan was born on January 16, 1937, in Breslau, Germany to Walter Fritz Kundis and Margarete Richter Kundis.
She experienced World War II in Germany. At the age of 15, she learned to be an IBM Key-Punch Operator and started a full-time job while attending school.
Due to an illness, she could not remain in the climate of Germany and immigrated to Utah in 1955. She became an American citizen in 1960.
She worked for 13 years at Safeway Offices and for 22 years at Rocky Mountain and Harland check printing companies.
Ursula is a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Bavaria Germany.
She served in Primary, Sunday School, and Young Women organizations as a teacher and President. In Relief Society, she served as a teacher, counselor, President, and Stake Board Member.
Ursula married her sweetheart, Paul David DeHaan in the Salt Lake Temple on January 13, 1967. They were blessed with two very special children, Kelly Paul DeHaan and Maria DeHaan Wright. Their love is forever sealed. Her favorite place was in the temple.
Ursula loved people and had many dear friends whom she cherished. She was known for her beautiful grace and faith, her incredible cooking and baking, her willingness to render service, and for her easy and honest friendship. The Lord has granted her a most blessed life. She will be deeply missed by all of us.
Ursula died peacefully in the early morning hours of September 2, 2024.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, and children Kelly DeHaan (Shellie) and Maria DeHaan Wright; five grandsons, Tanner DeHaan (Elizabeth), Tate DeHaan (Hannah), Sam DeHaan (Rachael), Jackson DeHaan (Kayla), and Noah Wright; three sweet great-grandchildren, Eve, Elliott, and Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Fritz Kundis; mother, Margarete Richter Kundis; brother, Karl Heinz Kundis (Ingrid); and sister Ingrid Kundis Kroek (Gert).
Funeral services will be held on Saturday,September 7, 2024, at 11:00 at 5233 South 3200 West, Taylorsville, Utah. A viewing at the same address will be held before the funeral starting at 9:30.
