Vaughn L. "Jerry" Jones, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, passed away April 19, 2015, with family by his side. He was born to Vaughn L. Jones, Sr. and Ethel Berniece Price on March 14, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah. On October 27, 1957, he married Anita Nelson; they later divorced. On April 1, 1988, he married DeOna Cannon; they have been together 42 years. Jerry attended South High School, where he was President of the Crusaders Car Club. He served an Electrical Apprenticeship with SLC School District, graduated from Trade Tech (SLCC), having studied Electricity/Electronics, and co-founded the Audio-Visual Lab for the SLC School District. Jerry installed sound systems in junior high's, high schools, and colleges throughout the Western United States and in the original Salt Palace. He helped install phone systems and sound systems in the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, Sands Hotel & Casino, and LDS Church Office Building. Jerry retired from Norton-Christensen working at their Research and Development facility as head of the Safety & Maintenance Department. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, water and snow skiing, scuba diving, shooting pool, and being with family and friends. His favorite spots were anywhere in Southern Utah, and Soldier Creek, Strawberry, Flaming Gorge, and Red Fleet Reservoirs. He enjoyed motorcycles, cars, car shows, and was a member of the Jester's Car Club. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; and brother, Brent Roland (Judy Fox) Jones; Jerry is survived by his wife, Dee; sons, Kelly V. (Suzann) Jones, and Lewis Ricky Yates, Jr.; daughter, Debra Jo Monsen; grandchildren, Brandi Lyn (James) Ribera, Jamie Lee (Jeremiah) Sutton, Alexess (Frankie) Zabriskie, and Nathan Bailey; great-grandchildren, Krystina, Brielle, Jared, Brynnlee, Izayah, Brooklyn, and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 11:30 a.m. at the Cedar Breaks LDS Ward, 5635 South 2200 West, in Taylorsville.
