Vera Houtz Meriwether 1926 ~ 2011 Vera Houtz Meriwether, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother returned to her loving Heavenly Fathers arms on May 19, 2011 at the age of 84. Vera was born on July 11, 1926 to Heber Hall Houtz and Isabell Robertson in Springville, Utah. Vera married Donald Fotheringham on February 6, 1943, who passed away on January 1, 1946. She later met and married Marvin Meriwether July 2, 1949 and was later sealed to him in the Salt Lake Temple. Vera was an active LDS member who enjoyed her calling as a Temple Worker, and other callings in the church. She enjoyed being creative, making crafts, puzzles and sewing. She is survived by children: Kay Cundick (Von Vance), Don (Camille) Meriwether, Carma (George) Jessop, Judy (Dennis) Ward, Gayle (Warren) Jolley; Sister, Mildred Bray; 14 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, grandchild and great grandchild. Vera was a kind and giving person who will be greatly missed by many. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 23, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the River Oaks 1st Ward, 8825 South 1095 West, West Jordan. Viewings will be held Sunday, May 22, 2011 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and again Monday, 11-11:45 a.m. at the church prior to funeral services.
