Vicki Johnson

( March 01, 1949 - December 28, 2023 )

Vicki Johnson was born March 1, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard (Dick) and Donnette (Miller) Johnson. She was the third of three children. The family lived in the home of her grandfather, Uriah G. Miller. Her mother had been born in that home which was in Murray, Utah. Her brothers Don and Lee were 12 years and 6 years older than she was.

She attended Arlington Elementary School, Murray Junior High School, and Murray High School where she graduated in 1967. Vicki met her life-long friend, Cheryl Smith, in junior high. Cheryl would later become her sister-in-law when Cheryl married Lee. She later attended LDS Business Collage receiving an education in bookkeeping. Her early years in the bookkeeping profession were working for her cousin Marvin Miller at Miller Electric. In her later years she was a bookkeeper for American Express from whom she retired.

During her teens Vicki enjoyed roller skating. She also played the piano. And she was very involved in MIA activities at church including helping organize such activities as Regional Dances.

Vicki never married and ended up considering her nieces and nephews as her kids. She was a fantastic aunt and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, taking them to movies, out for a milkshake at Iceberg, and other events. Vicki's mom and dad were snowbirds traveling between northern Idaho and Yuma, Arizona. They would stay with Vicki for a few weeks each time they passed through Utah. Vicki took care of her dad for the last few years of his life.

Vicki loved to travel. She took a cross country trip to Washington, DC with Don's family. She went to Hawaii twice. She would fly up to Alaska to visit her friend Joan. She would go to Colorado with her sister-in-law Cheryl to visit Cheryl's sister-in-law Sharyn at her cabin. She went to Europe with family to meet her nephew Josh and travel home with him from his mission. And there were the yearly trips to Cedar City with Cheryl, Cheryl's nephew, Travis, and other friends to attend the Shakespeare festival shows there.

That leads us to her other interests. Besides the Shakespeare festivals she was a dedicated fan of The University of Utah sports. Vicki traveled to Boise twice to watch Utah men's basketball team play in March Madness. In particular, Vicki loved women's basketball and volleyball, buying season tickets for these events, as well as gymnastics. She also loved to camp, making yearly trips to the Spruces in Big Cottonwood Canyon with her tent trailer. And there were annual trips to Boise with Cheryl to scrapbook with Karen, Crystal, Stephanie, and Kari.

Vicki was preceded in death by her father, mother, Cheryl, and sister-in-law, Sandra. Vicki is survived by her brothers Don (Karen) and Lee, and nieces Crystal (Todd) and Kari (Greg), and nephews Cliff (Kathy), Stan (Stephanie), Rex (Kathy), Josh (Marissa), and Ryan (Ericka), and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Vicki was a wonderful person loved by many.

The burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday January 5th at Elysian Burial Garden at 1075 E 4580 South in Millcreek. We will then meet at Spring Gardens in Midvale for a memorial service located at 6968 S 700 W.
