Born: August 28, 1943 - Vince died peacefully in his sleep on January 27, 2025, at his home in West Valley City, Utah from newly diagnosed esophageal cancer.
Vince was born in Brooklyn, New York to Frank and Carmella "Millie" Fiorello Murano.
Vince proudly served 2 tours in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. He has always been very patriotic and went out of his way to thank a veteran for their service whenever he saw one.
He married the love of his life, Marileen Burt, in 1972. Together, they blended their families, with Vince bringing a daughter, Kellene "Kellie", and Marileen bringing four more children into the family: Michael, Michelle, Rae, and Kelli. They later had two children together, Janiel, and Vinnie, Jr.
Over the years, he worked a variety of jobs including a few such as the gas station in California where he met Marileen, K-mart, Burns Security, and several trucking companies to provide for his family. His time working on the command module at NASA during the Gemini and early Apollo programs were a source of great pride for him. He revisited the Kennedy Space center again after 50+ years in 2023. He loved sharing stories about the time he worked there with anyone who would listen while visiting there. Vince later became an owner/operator truck driver, which gave him the opportunity to travel coast-to-coast, gain the CB handle "The Italian Meatball" and experience the country. He even taught Marileen how to drive the semi and she eventually received her commercial driver's license to drive with him.
Anyone who knew Vince knew his passion for vehicles, with his 1969 Mach 1 Mustang being his absolute favorite. He had several classic cars during his life and loved each one. They were washed, waxed, and cleaned regularly.
He was also known for his sense of humor and had a knack for "busting your chops". This was his way of showing he loved and cared for you because it was hard for him to show emotion until later in his life. He considered the friends of his children and grandchildren family not just friends. He was a talker and would love to talk to everyone no matter where he was or what he was doing. It could be a server at a restaurant, someone standing in line at the store, or employees and other fans at the hockey games.
Though frugal with his own needs, he was incredibly generous with others. He asked for a senior or military discount everywhere he went but also tipped generously. If you needed something and couldn't afford it, especially for your car or safety, he would do whatever he could to help.
Vince loved spending time camping, fishing, and hunting with his family. Even though he didn't hunt himself, he was the first one up in the morning to go out with the guys.
He loved food, especially steak, seafood, hard salami, and chocolate. Coca-Cola and a good scotch on the rocks were his drinks of choice. He would also enjoy a dish of ice cream almost every night before bed.
Vince was also blessed with a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy in 2017, where he was able to meet relatives who still live there. He kept in touch with them through social media and really wanted to go back again.
In his later years, Vince looked forward to his weekly breakfasts at Jim's Family Restaurant with his son Vinnie, and attending Grizzly hockey games with his daughter Janiel and granddaughter MaKaylee.
His great-grandchildren Harper and Calvin had a very special place in his heart. He enjoyed all the time spent with them camping, going to the zoo, dinners, and holidays together. He made sure to hold them, play with them, tease them, and take pictures with them each time he saw them so they knew how much he loved them.
Vince is preceded in death by the love of his life Marileen Burt Murano, parents Frank and Millie Murano, brothers Pasquale "Pat" Murano, Alfonso "Harry" Murano, Frank Murano, and Raymond Murano, his step-daughter Kelli Smith, sons-in-law Troy Roth and William Henson, and grandsons Justin Oldfield and Jordan Corbett.
He is survived by his brother Leonard (Gloria) Murano, children Kellie Henson, Janiel Roth, Vinnie (Mindy) Murano, Michael (Susan) Murano, Michelle Emerson, Rae (Everett) Billings, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of Vince's life will be held on February 15, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Harman Ward House, 4634 W Harman Drive, West Valley City, Utah.
Interment will take place at a later date at the Heber Valley Cemetery.
