Virgene was surrounded by her loving family when she passed unexpectedly of complications due to heart failure. She was born November 10, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Theodore James Thaxton and Thelma Ann Armstrong. Virgene was extremely creative, especially in her love of quilting. She had excellent ability as a homemaker including baking, sewing, gardening, painting, and food preservation. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge and life skills with many youth by serving for 30 years as a leader and instructor in the 4-H program. She also loved spending time at the family cabin in the Uinta Mountains. Virgene was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many callings including primary and young women. Her testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was unwavering. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard "Dick" True; five children, Dan (Kelli) True, son-in-law Brian Carpender, Stephanie (Bryan) Chavez, Jacque (Mike) Wardle, Jennifer (Brett) Shakespear, and Jon (Tanya) True; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers Ted (Sharon) Thaxton, Darryl (Lynette) Thaxton, and Gailyn (Debbie) Thaxton. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Shawna Carpender; and grandson Kevin John Redmon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at the Taylorsville LDS Stake Center, 4845 S. Woodhaven Dr., Taylorsville. Family and friends may visit on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S.
