Virgil Harrison Jackson, 87 of Taylorsville, Utah passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Virgil was born in Pocatello, Idaho on June 22, 1930 to Irvin Ora Jackson and Gertrude Cook Jackson. Virgil attended Pocatello High School and went on to serve for 2 years in the Korean War. Virgil met the girl of his dreams, Ileane Norton, and married her on July 22, 1953. They recently celebrated 64 years of marriage. Virgil and Ileane have 7 children. Virgil's children lovingly call him Dad, Papa, Pops, and Pappy. During the Korean War, Virgil served as Sergeant Virgil Harrison Jackson, Ready Reserve (active status) who was inducted into the Army of the United States on January 9, 1951 December 10, 1952 and was transferred into the army reserve. Virgil was honorably discharged from the Army of the United States on January 1, 1956. We, as a family, take pride in our Father's service to our great country! Virgil Harrison is survived by his wife, Ileane Jackson; and their 7 children Diane Lee Jackson Capanna (Michael) , Janet Ilene Jackson Rahlf (William), Rodney Harrison Jackson (Starla), Gary Virgil Jackson (Merrie), Jon Andrew Jackson (Joan), Polly Ann Jackson Daw (Tracy), and Laron Edwin Jackson. Virgil and Ileane have 34 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren, and two more on the way. Virgil's great-grandchildren lovingly call him "Grandpa Great". Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Valley Park 2nd Ward, 5233 South 3200 West.
