Born June 20, 1938 in Gallena, New Mexico, daughter of Pedro Mestas and Serano Asencion. Raised in Durango, Colorado. Married Otilio F. Avila July 1958. They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1963; he preceded her in death. She married Manuel R. Paez in 1985. She was employed at the Salt Lake Regional Hospital over 30 years. She was loved by many.
