Virginia Candland Warren

July 10, 1926 — May 16, 2016

Virginia Candland Warren, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend returned to her Heavenly Father and beloved husband on May 16, 2016 at the residence of her daughter in Taylorsville, Utah. Virginia was born July 10, 1926 to Leland and Lillian Candland. She graduated from Granite High School in 1943. After World War II, a friend of hers lined her up on a blind date, with a returned soldier, Calvin Albert Warren; they were engaged three months later. Cal & Virginia were married on June 5, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. Virginia was a quiet, easy going, dignified and very beautiful woman. She was a righteous woman who loved the Lord and taught her children by her example. Virginia also taught her children how important it was to not only be pure and clean on the inside but also the importance of being well kept on the outside. Virginia was dressed to the nines and radiated class, always! Though her means were humble, her talents of sewing, creativity, and hard work ethic, she was able to create a home and family that reflected quality, beauty, and taught her children of their personal worth. Virginia loved sports and was a talented golfer. She loved to dance. Often when she and Calvin were on the dance floor everyone would stop and watch them. She served faithfully throughout her life in many positions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including four and half years in the St. George Temple and a mission in Kirtland, Ohio. Virginia is survived by five children and their spouses: Paul (Debbie), Cheryl (Frank) Leavitt, Vickie (Robert) Benincosa, Grant, Eddie (Teresa); 25 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; brother David Candland; sisters, Winnie Thompson and Margaret Little. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2016, 12:00 noon, at Taylorsville Valley Park Stake Center, 2603 West 4700 South, where a viewing will be held, 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services.
