Virginia Piercey Johnsen 1933 ~ 2013 Virginia Jinny was born May 25, 1933, daughter of Verda G. and J.K. Piercey. She grew up in the Avenues as one of six children. While attending the University of Utah she found the opportunity to be a full time secretary to the Division Manager of ZCMI s Downstairs Stores . While working there she was courted, and eventually won over, by Jack Johnsen and they married September 5, 1957. They lived in Salt Lake City until 1960 when they moved to the Bay Area. Virginia and Jack were blessed with two wonderful children, Karen, born in 1962 and David, in 1964. As a family they were always taking advantage of the many things to do in Northern California, from exploring San Francisco to camping in the Redwoods and exploring the local beaches. Virginia was active in all aspects of callings in the LDS Church. She served in the Primary, Young Women and in every ward she lived was called to serve in Relief Society. She was a wonderful homemaker, loved her family and loved to serve others. She became seriously ill and was diagnosed with auto immune disorders in October 1993. With the skilled doctors and physical therapy available in the Salt Lake Valley she made a marvelous recovery and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was thrilled to see the fine parents Karen and David and their spouses are. Virginia was the proud grandmother of eight: Tommy, Michael, Curtis, Christina, Sarah, Amanda, Ryan and Tyler, who brought so much joy into her life.
