Wendy Silver

February 23, 1942 — March 19, 2024

Wendy Ann Silver passed away on March 19, 2024. She was born February 23, 1942 to Roland and Joan Teakle in Sutton Coldfield, England. Born during the height of World War II, Wendy spent her first few years of life at The Headlands, the home of her grandfather, Poppet, while her father was a pilot in the Royal Air Force. She was joined two years later by a younger sister Mione (Jane.) She traveled extensively with her family, and the Island of Sark was a favorite family vacation destination.

Wendy loved classical music and played the organ. She was an avid reader. Wendy studied French, Latin, and Greek at La Chatelaine School and Millfield School. She then studied Russian at L'Ecole des Langues Orientales in Paris and Holborn College in London. She attended London University to study Russian Language and Literature where she graduated with honors. She got a Masters Degree in Library Sciences later in life.

Wendy immigrated to the US in 1965 to marry. She settled in Menlo Park, California where her first two children were born. She later moved to Utah where she had four more children. She lived in Orem, Utah on a one acre lot, and converted most of it to an organic garden. She also kept goats and chickens. She loved animals from a young age, and in her later life she adopted a rescued pit bull that was her constant companion for over a decade. Wendy had a multi-decade interest in health, from both diet and exercise perspectives. She stayed very active her entire life.

Wendy moved to the Salt Lake Valley in the 1990's. She was especially proud of the home she designed in Herriman. She landscaped an acre of land, planting hundreds of plants and dozens of trees. She also personally installed a pond and a patio made of pavers.

Wendy worked for the Census Bureau for decades until she broke her hip this past January. She enjoyed meeting all people in her Census work. She demonstrated great persistence which led to her being a top field interviewer throughout her career.

She is survived by her children Catherine Moody Moore (Paul), Whitney Durham, Sarah Moody Robinson (David), David Moody, Muriel Moody Korol (Wilson) and twelve grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Moody.

A memorial service will be held in Herriman, Utah on June 23, 2024. For further information about the memorial service, please contact Sarah Robinson (smoo.robinson@gmail.com.)
