Wilkins Phillipus Goodrich

Born to James Wilkins Goodrich, and Janny Dyksman. Dad loved the outdoors, racing and living life. Married Kathleen Webb, had four children. Later divorced, married Marsha Miller. We spent many of our nights at Grandma and Grandpa Goodrich's, watching the crew work on Dad's car. The purple and pink 4/04 car was a familiar site at Suntana and Bonneville Raceway. At the beginning, he was known as "Cuddles." He won Rookie of the Year in 1974, and the championship in 1980. Later on, he was known as the Grape Ape, and had the only Cadillac on the track. It was a family affair, with his brother-in-laws and Dad being his pit crew. As those of you that have been involved in racing know, the family that races together, stays together. Just try to separate us! Dad's favorite driver the last few years was Kasey Kahne, and he spent many an enjoyable day cheering him on. After he stopped racing, he developed a love for woodworking, which is best displayed by the fantastic job he did building his castle in Fruitland, where he spent the better part of his last 20 years. He was very proud of his children, both biological and voluntary, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother. Survived by wife, Marsha, father, James (Jeanine) , sisters Janice (Jerry) Pacheco, JoAnn Kincheloe, Kris , Cindy (Craig), Roxann (Clark) Cowley, children, Belinda (Nathan) Hicks, James (Sue), Randee (Frank) Richardson, Phillip Reed (fiance Kim), Tonja (Chris) Mahoney, Debbie (Trevor) Eversole, Jimmy Miller, 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks from the family to dad's best friend Terry Poynor for being there for him. A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral home 4330 S Redwood Road in Taylorsville.
