William Lester Howick peacefully passed away from natural causes at the age of 98 surrounded by members of his family on October 18, 2015. Born Oct 1, 1917 to John William and Carrie Maxwell Howick in Sugarhouse, Utah. Married Ramona Hess Wellington June 20, 1938; later married Bette Ann Ward on Aug. 11, 1948, and after Bette joined the church they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1952. Graduated from LDS Business College. Employed at the Union Pacific Railroad and later as Vice President of Paxton's Production tools. Les is known for being a skilled fly fisherman. The Weber River was often his sanctuary. He had a passion for gardening and found great pride in a well-manicured yard. Les was soft spoken, humble, wise, and had the patience of Job. Leswas blessed withkeen eyesight and hearing with no physical challenges. He loved the Savior Jesus Christ and willingly helped others. He valued his association with then Bishop Thomas S. Monson while they both served in bishoprics in the Jefferson Ward. He was honored to serve twice as Bishop and also in the Stake Presidency in the Kearns Utah North Stake. He was a temple worker at the Jordan River Temple. He and his wife Bette Ann served in the Tallahassee Florida Mission. He believed that by putting the Savior at the center of your life that everything else would fall into place. Survived by his: siblings Doris Hoagland and Eldon Howick; Children from Ramona Hess Peggy Ann (I.J.) Egbert, Sharen Bennett, and Terry (Janice) Howick; children from Bette Ann Ward David (Eldie) Howick, Leslee Ann (Vaun) Petersen, and Janet (Spencer) McDougal; 23grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his: parents; grandson Victor Nish; Ramona, Bette Ann;and siblings: Steve, Thelma, Norma, and Reed.
