William Lewis Dean

Beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family July 13, 2015. He fought a tough battle with dementia and diabetes. Born July 27, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William and Rebecca Dean. Husband to Karen Dean. Skip had many wonderful memories with Bonneville, Santana and Rocky Mountain Raceways; and the old Salt Lake City Fairgrounds. He was top driver in the Super Sport Division and a good friend to all race families. He was a faithful Nascar fan. He's definitely up there racing with Dale Earnhardt right now. He loved to race RC and slot cars. Skip was a loving, caring man who would do anything for anyone and was never too busy to help anyone in need. Thank you for being such a great person and example with your honesty, integrity and caring ways; but most of all your wonderful sense of humor and smile. You will be greatly missed by everyone who knew you! Survived by wife, Karen Christenson Dean; children: Kimberly (Michael) Thomson, Stacy (Doug) Giles, Angela (Tarik) Abu-Khamseen, David (Trish) Hall; grandchildren: Amber, Stephen, Aisha, Andrew, Alia, Zahara, Darien and Ashlyn; great-granddaughter, Aubrie; brother Eugene (Donna) Dean; nieces: Heidi, Heather, Crissy and Kimi.
