William Benson Hubbard, a disciple of Jesus Christ and a faithful friend has gone home to heaven to report his earthly ministry. He served faithfully in life among his family and friends and in the Eternal world he returns to the loving arms of his departed family.
William Benson Hubbard, also known as “Bill” was born August 25, 1948 in Gary, Indiana to Frank and LaVerne Hubbard. Raised in the Lutheran Church, he had a strong moral background. On August 30, 1969, he became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while attending Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana. He graduated with a degree in Biology and then served a full-time mission for the Church in the California East Mission (1971-1973), where he gained much experience. He returned home and enrolled in Civil Engineering at Purdue. Part way through his studies, he transferred to Brigham Young University. He graduated with a Civil Engineering degree in 1976 after marrying his sweetheart, Jonice Johnson. He did post graduate studies in Mechanical engineering at the University of Utah. He worked in the engineering field for 34 years as a Manufacturing Engineer for Hercules Inc. and Alliant Techsystems.
He was so interested in family history that he moved his family to the Salt Lake Valley so that he could more easily do research at the Family History Library. He discovered thousands of names on his family tree tracing them back to Germany and Sweden.
He was an avid Scouter and enjoyed taking his family camping. He loved being with his family and dedicated all his vacations to them. He went hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, goede hunting and anything that was fun!
He and his wife served a Records Preservation Mission in the Des Moines Iowa Mission from 2015-2016 making many new friends and helping to add records to the Family History effort.
He is survived by his wife, Jonice L. Hubbard; his children, Andrea (Glen) Hubbard Mabey, Neal (Becky Hancock) Hubbard, David (Camilla Inks) Hubbard, Holly (Karl) Hubbard Christianson, Dallin (May Bo Hsu) Hubbard, Thomas Hubbard; and numerous grandchildren.
