Willie Joe Carton, entered this world December 14, 1936 and returned home October 5, 2017 after a swift and mighty battle with CJD. His loving wife of 58 years, Annie and his children surrounded him as he went home. Willie honorably served in the United States Air Force and to all that knew him he was a proud veteran whom always flew his flag outside his home. He participated in many missions around the world visiting over 20 countries and in support of the Korean War. He left the military when he found the love of his life, proposing to her on the day he discharged. Willie attended the University of Utah and was a true Utes fan. He served as a Key 3 with the boy scouts, where he relived his boyhood years working with the scouts in District 13. He also served in the Bishopric, in the High Council and as a Bishop. He mostly loved the youth activities and being involved with them. His family was his world and he and Annie raised 7 amazing children. As a dedicated road warrior he and Annie toured the country on his Gold-wing, he loved traveling on his motor-snickle he was the ultimate adventurer. Willie is survived by his wife Ann Vigh; his children: Rebecca (Roger) Atkinson, Debbie (Mike) Perry, Kelly (Elise) Carton, Wendy (Ken) Bills, Todd (Sheila) Carton, Jenny Maurer, Beth (Tom) Dye. Willie and Ann had 18 beautiful grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren with the eleventh due soon. Willie was preceded in death by his parents John and Blanche Carton; brother John Carton; sisters, Shirley Wallace and Mae Schmitz; and his father and mother-in-law Wilson and Ruth Atkinson. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 13, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at the Briarwood Ward, 2200 W. 3751 S. West Valley City, where a viewing will be from 9:30-10:30. Interment following immediately after, at the Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Primary Children's or the VA. The family would like to thank Mt. Olympus for their loving support in making this journey in a little easier and Community Nursing Services (Hospice) for their support and wonderful care for our Dad. We also wish to thank Physicians Assistant Diane Mattocks, her staff and the wonderful staff at the VA hospital. The family would also like to thank all of their loving and caring neighbors and friends whom took care of us and our dear mom this past month. We would also like to thank McDougal's for their kindness and support.
