Alan Bosworth Smith Sr
July 22, 1953 - April 5, 2019
Alan Bosworth Smith Sr passed away in the wee hours of the morning on April 5th, 2019, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Alan had battled the last 5 years with a diagnosis of liver cancer which left him increasingly feeble, and yet he always managed to exceed expectations, even until the end. For Alan, life was a wild ride, with its share of ups and downs, struggles and joys. He had his share of problems, as we all do, but in the end his greatest joy was the connection he shared with his sons, and with his 12 grandchildren. As he neared the end, he showed his gratitude for all the smiling faces around him.
When asked what his favorite moment in life had been, he answered that it had always been a different thing whenever he had been asked that question. Connecting with his grandchildren, sharing a laugh with those around him, or hitchhiking to Woodstock at the age of 14.
Alan’s last waking moments were filled with tears, making amends, and a little laughter. Though his life in this mortal existence has come to an end, accompanied by the natural worry and fear, he was also filled with a hope, and an excitement to be reunited with his beloved mother who had preceded him in death.
Of Alan’s life, much could be said, but in the end we were grateful to have grown closer to him, and to see his tender side, reaching out for a connection. We pray that the all encompassing love of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ envelopes him in his new adventure, and we look forward to seeing him again.
Alan is preceded in death by his parents Heber Chase Smith Jr. and Neata McDougal, and his brother-in-law Conrad Ellis. He is survived by his siblings: Richard B. Smith(Rose Graham), Glenn B. Day(Neide), Gwenn Ellis, Gloria Ann Hansen(Harvey),his three sons: Alan Bosworth Smith Jr.(Kimberly), Robert Smith(Liz), and David Smith; his grandchildren: Chase, Kodie(Amelia), Blake, Braden, Kailan, Mckay(Bailey), Brynn, Bailey, Jayden, Valarie, Braxton, and Wesley; his four great-grandchildren: Kaleb Dean, Analeese Paisley, and Kai Bryan Smith, with another one on the way; and his many nieces and nephews with whom he shared a close bond and relationship with.
