Bernice passed away March 10, 2020 at the age of 98, at home. She is the daughter of Harrison and Hortense Walker, born to them on December 28, 1921 in Slaterville, Utah.
Her early years in school were in Hunter, Utah and she graduated from Cyprus High in 1940. She married Pette Wardella on January 1, 1948. They lived in El Sombente, California for 26 years where they spent many days enjoying fly fishing. Her biggest fish was an 18 lb salmon on the Columbia River. Peter passed away on November 27, 1975. Bernice returned to Utah and has lived in Taylorsville since.
Having ancestors that came across on the prairie with the pioneers, she became a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was a member for 29 years. She learned about ancestors and pioneers and donated to the museum. She was involved in genealogical research and performing temple ordinances for ancestors. She was a member of Garden Ward in Taylorsville and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bernice spent many years as a visiting teacher learning to love those she visited.
Preceding her in death are her parents; four brothers, Sidley, Lavern, Gerald Bowen, Leo Gowan, James Lewis; and sister Arlene Sally (Walker) Fawson.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2020, 12:30 p.m. at Elysian Burial Gardens .
