Doris Eileen McClurg Harding, born November 13, 1921, passed away on July 10, 2020. Doris died of natural causes at the age of 98 in the G.E. Wahlen Veterans Home.
Doris was born in Des Moines, Iowa and later lived in Bethany, Nebraska and Downey, California. She then moved to Meadow, Utah and later live in Murray, Taylorsville and St. George, Utah.
Doris was married to Warren (Bud) Harding and later divorced. She is survived by their five children: Pam (Jack) Hunter of St. George, Utah, Pat (Tim) Olsen of Grants Pass, Oregon, Kim (Ann) Harding of West Valley City, Utah, Bob (Sharen) Harding of South Jordan, Utah, and Hope (Jerry) Bytheway of Aguanga, California.
Doris served in the Women’s Army Corps. She was posted at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. during WWII. She was a mother, homemaker, seamstress at the Salt Lake Opera and Jordan River Temple, a caterer at the U of U, a shipping specialist at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Distribution Center, and held many positions in the church during her life. She was also an avid reader and genealogist until her eyesight failed.
Doris was a very caring person. She may have been short in stature, but she was tall in determination and service. Her unwavering faith and example will be missed.
She was entombed with military honors at Redwood Memorial Estates in Taylorsville, Utah. No memorial was held due to COVID19.
