Floyd Wayne Gailey passed from this life to join family on the other side of the veil on Thursday
March 18th, 2021. He was at home surrounded by family.
Floyd was born on March 18, 1937, in Salt Lake City Utah to Archie and Ella (Mann) Gailey.
He is survived by his wife, Ercell (Schroeder) and his 5 children Wayne (Torie) Gailey, Mike
(Gay) Gailey, Gene (Barbara) Gailey, Zina (Victor) Perry and Sue (Bill) Boyd. He is predeceased
by both parents and 10 siblings and 3 of his grandsons. He has 25 grandchildren, 47 great
grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild.
Floyd was raised in Salt Lake with 10 siblings. He married Ercell, the love of his life, in 1956 and
was married for 64 years. Floyd was a devoted family man and loved spending time with family
whether it be a short visit or holidays and BBQ's. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare
time. He also has a passion for music and played the trumpet and guitar. Floyd worked many
years as an auto mechanic and for Franklin Covey. He's served as a Sunday school president
and served a mission in a local Cambodia ward.
The viewing will be held Sunday March 21st, 2021 from 6-8 PM at McDougal Funeral Home on
4330 South Redwood Road Taylorsville and Monday 22nd, 2021 from 930-1030AM at the
church on 3276 South 2760 West, West Valley City. A service will be held for family, following
the viewing, at 11AM at the church.
