Raymond Felix Harmon

Ray Harmon passed away peacefully in his home on June 29, 2020. He was born November 14, 1944 in Murray, Utah to Edgar and Dorothy Harmon. He was passionate about racing and enjoyed drag racing his 1940 Chevy Coupe and has many trophies to show for it. He was not only the race car driver, but in his down time he built and fine-tuned the engines. He continued this passion in his career as a diesel mechanic for forty years. He retired from Consolidated Freightways on August 31, 2003 and was always an active member of the machinist union.

He married the love of his life, Lois Handeland, on June 2, 1973. Together they raised three beautiful children. He enjoyed auto racing, hunting, camping, fishing, riding in the bug, and anything involving family time. He was a great provider and taught his children valuable life lessons. He was a great father and a wonderful example to his children.

He is survived by his wife Lois; children Angie (Troy) Lloyd, Tim (Erin) Harmon, and Terri (Levi) Young; his seven grandchildren Megan, Hailey, Hannah, Halle, Maison, Dalyn, Tryson; his sister Mary Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Clarence Harmon; and sister Julie Jones.

There will be a viewing in his honor on Thursday July 2, 2020 from 6 – 8 pm. There will be an additional viewing on Friday July 3, 2020 from 11 – 11:45 am at McDougal Funeral Home at 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. This will be followed by graveside services at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery at 6500 South Redwood Road.
