Roger John Mitchell

Roger John Mitchell, age 77, passed quietly away in his sleep on December 5, 2018. He was the last surviving child of Gilbert and Mable Mitchell.

Roger and his first wife, spent years fostering 39 at risk teenagers. During his last years, he spent his time serving his community as a Senior Companion through SLC Aging Services. He loved all of the people he served.

He is preceded in death by both parents; along with 6 brothers; and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife Peggy Mitchell; son James (Zonia) Mitchell; daughter Alana Jones; son Stacy Mitchell; step-children, Dale (Beckie) Weaver and Cindy Kirkpatrick. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren with 2 more to be born in March.

Because of the Holidays, the family will hold a Memorial Service for him on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, located at 4260 West 5215 South.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Roger J. Mitchell Memorial Fund at Mountain America Credit Union, (any location). After expenses, remaining funds to be donated, in his memory, to the Humane Society of Utah.
