Tommy Gonzales

Merced Thomas "Tommy" Gonzales, age 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Monday, October 11, 2021.  

Born on May 15, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Tommy graduated from South High and proceeded to enlist in the United States Navy where he served on the USS Ticonderoga and the USS Kitty Hawk. This was one of his most rewarding achievements following in the footsteps of his beloved father. Tommy went on to be one of the most amazing custom car painters around. He loved being able to create a custom piece of art on cars that others could enjoy.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Gonzales; his nephews, Zach Swiger and Kelly Taylor. He leaves behind his lifelong companion, Julie; his mother, Frances; his sisters: Chris (Kelly), Vivian (Michael), Pat, Lisa (Doug); his brother, Kenneth (Jason); and his three children: Tommy (Jenni), Sasha and Kaylee; grandchildren: Mercedes, Kambree, Kristjen, Daniel, Dru, Benton, Gage; great-grandchildren Sutton and Ryker; as well as many aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; and nephews.   

A memorial service will be held at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Rd, on Monday, October 18, 2021 between 6:00-8:00 PM. Interment will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Camp Williams Utah Veterans Cemetery, 17111 South Redwood Road, Bluffdale, Utah 84065.
