Our dad, Val Mark Beazer, passed away surrounded by his family at the VA Hospital on January 2, 2020. He was born on September 3, 1932 in Roy, Utah to Mark and Minnie Beazer.
Dad graduated from Davis High School and soon after he married his sweetheart, Norma Grace Cook, in the Salt Lake Temple. A few days after their wedding, dad had to leave for basic training in California and then was shipped to Korea for 2 years as a member of the U.S. Army. When he returned, he graduated from the University of Utah and they quickly started their family.
They enjoyed spending time with their family. They especially loved pulling the trailer up into a beautiful canyon or taking cross country vacations to exciting new places. Dad loved hunting, fishing, miniature golf, puttering in the house and working in his yard. Dad eventually bought a Matco truck and made a living selling tools until he retired.
He was dedicated to his faith, his religion and his Savior. He held many church callings but his favorite was being called “Bishop Beazer” and working in the Jordan River Temple as a veil worker.
Dad loved people; he loved everyone and everyone loved him. His philosophy was “strangers were just friends he hadn’t met yet.”
Dad is survived by a younger brother, Boyd (Helen) Beazer; sister Linda Snow; children, Pamela Butler, Janice (Jon) Martin, Beverly (Dennis) Cook, Daryl (Denice) Beazer, Steven (Chris) Beazer and Nancy Grossaint; 28 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 6 siblings; his wife; granddaughter Jessica Martin; and son-in-law Michael Butler.
We want to thank the staff and his friends at Legacy Retirement Residence who became more like family than just neighbors.
Our family would also like to express our gratitude to the staff at the VA Hospital for treating our dad with respect and dignity during his most difficult days, hours and minutes.
